Witchcraft is physical before it is metaphysical. Magic is not something imagined into existence — it is shaped through the body, through the senses, and through the natural world we are part of. Before spells, before tools, before elaborate rituals, a witch learns how to feel.
The best way to begin is by working with what is already around you: the Earth, the air you breathe, the light of flame, the flow of water. These four elements are the primary teachers in early witchcraft because they are always present and always active.

As you connect with each element, pause and give it your full attention. Breathe with it. Observe what sensations arise. This is meditation in the Craft — not emptying the mind, but waking it up.
A second skill every beginner must develop is the ability to sense energy. Everything carries a current — people, places, objects, and experiences. Start noticing how different environments feel.
Visit a crowded place like a market or café. Feel the buzz of movement and noise.
Then find a quiet field or secluded park — notice the spaciousness and calm.

To learn to see energy, stand where tree branches meet the sky. Soften your gaze, unfocus your eyes slightly, and watch the line where leaves and light meet.
Finally, turn inward to your own body. Breath is a witch’s first tool. Notice where it rests. Feel where tension gathers, where heat rises, where emotion settles.
It is a good idea to keep a journal of your experiences. Over time you will see patterns, and this provides validation and a source reflection as you grow in your Craft.

Beginning the Craft isn’t about acquiring tools or learning complex spellwork.
It begins with what is already present.
